Why switching banks used to be a nightmare.
Prior to July 1, 2012, if you wanted to switch from one bank to another, you had to literally jump through a series of hoops. First up, you had to first open an account at the new bank. Then you had to work out what regular payments you had going in and out of your account and then, without any help or advice, contact all the organisations you had direct debits with and let them know you'd switched banks. Then you had to provide them with the new BSB and Account number. We haven’t even mentioned all the explaining your old bank expected from you.
Why switching banks is now easy.
In simple terms, we do all the work for you. All you have to do is open an account, any account, fill out one form which tell your old financial institution to provide us with a list of your regular payments (direct debits). Then you can sit back and relax, knowing all the hard work is being done for you.
While you’re contemplating you next investment, loan, renovation or taking a holiday we will give the form back to your old bank (you don't even have to pick up the phone) and they’ll send us back the list within a couple of weeks. We’ll then confirm with you which payments you want to switch and send the revised list back to your old bank. Your old bank will then provide your new Holiday Coast account details to organisations on your behalf and your regular payments will continue without missing a beat.

The list of Regular Payments includes regular direct debits and credits to and from the personal bank accounts and periodical payments.
How long does the switching process take?
The whole process should take no more than a few weeks for everything to be sorted, but some organisations do require more notice than others, so a switching notice to them might not take effect until their next billing cycle. This means they may not start crediting or debiting the new account for a month or more.
