A credit union is a financial co-operative that is formed, owned and operated by people coming together on the basis of a community of interest. This might be based on members belonging to a specific community being employed within a certain industry or belonging to a particular organisation. There are 137 credit unions within Australia (as at February 2008) and these, in turn, are part of the worldwide credit union movement.

A credit union is distinctive from other financial institutions because it is entirely owned and operated by its members. It is a not-for-profit organisation whose priority is its members' well being. Apart from providing for operating costs and reasonable contingencies, the credit union returns virtually all profits to its members in the form of more services and a stronger place to do business.

At Holiday Coast Credit Union we have a goal to be professional in all aspects of service delivery and be recognised by our members and the broader community as an organisation that is values driven. We are committed to maintain a culture of being totally committed to enhancing the value of membership through excellent product and service delivery as well as the education of members and the broader community in all aspects of finance.
