Community

Holiday Coast Credit Union is a strong advocate of community engagement and the ability to support various programs in all of the following areas namely welfare, environment, social, education, sport and culture and the arts is a key part of our overall social responsibility.

The underlying philosophy is found in the International Credit Union Operating Principles and indeed the notion of Holiday Coast Credit Union improving the economic and social well being of its members and their community.

Our support for these various community groups also provided the opportunity for staff to volunteer both in relation to the support of the various charity organisations through personal giving as well as giving of their time through the taking of the available two days per year paid leave to support community programs and community groups.

We at Holiday Coast Credit Union see the engagement of our staff within their communities as being a pivotal foundation for our carriage of the responsibilities of the credit union in the expression of our mutual benefit. At Holiday Coast our interpretation of mutuality is aligned to the notion of mutual benefit namely anything we do must be in the interest of the member or the member will not be a member for the long term; must be in the interest of the credit union or the credit union will not be able to continue to deliver benefits to members; and thirdly and most importantly it must be of benefit to and in the interest of the community in which our members live and work. It is this third limb that we see as the real demonstration of the Holiday Coast difference.
